Our SEND Provision
Meeting our Children’s Needs
At Shade School we provide learning which meets the needs of every child. Like most schools we have a number of pupils who have additional educational needs. Such needs may include:
• Learning difficulties
• Behavioural issues
• Medical conditions
• Communication difficulties
Children with additional or special educational needs may need extra help and support from us and here at Shade we have a dedicated team of support assistants and other adults who, alongside class teachers, will provide support for those children who have additional educational needs.
To ensure that children’s individual needs are met and the necessary support is given, we liaise with a range of agencies such as the speech & language therapy service, occupational therapy and the community paediatric team.
Children on the register have an Additional Needs Plan (ANP) that is highly personalised to the individual child and is regularly reviewed with the class teacher, parent and child, thereby ensuring a collaborative approach to the provision. Parents have a separate appointment with the Inclusion Manager at Parent Consultation Evenings, in addition to their appointment with their class teacher
