Mrs Leck is Shade's Art leader.
Miss Clayton is part of the Art team.
At Shade, we follow the Access Art Split Primary Curriculum which has been specifically designed for primary schools that teach Art for half of the year and DT the other half.
The scheme of work implements the main aims of the National Curriculum, which are to ensure that all pupils:
produce creative work, exploring their ideas and recording their experiences
become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design
techniques
evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art, craft and design
know about great artists, craft makers and designers, and understand the historical and
cultural development of their art forms.
Within EYFS, children are immersed in art in a child-initiated way. Across Years 1 to 6, children are provided with opportunities to experience a variety of media and techniques and are educated upon influential artists and craft makers from around the world, both past and present. Within Key Stage 2, our Art curriculum aims to equip children with the knowledge and skills to make informed choices, think critically of their own artwork and that of others, and to work with increased independence. Each pupil records their artwork ideas, designs and practices in a sketchbook which journeys through school life with them, providing a personal collection of inspiration.
