Rights Respecting
Earlier this year we achieved our Recognition of Commitment award! We are currently working towards the Level 1 Rights Respecting School Award.
The convention recognises that all children have rights such as:
- the right to an education and the right to clean water.
- the right to be safe

Key Stage 2 Assemblies
During our weekly KS2 assemblies we have been talking about the right's of the child and their importance. This week we discussed the difference between a 'right' and a 'want'.
Class Projects
Year 6 have been spending time during PSHE to define 'a right' and to understand what rights children have. They are now beginning a class project to identify some differences between them and children in other countries.
Year 4 have been looking at a different right each week and have been discussing what the rights mean to them. They used drama to create their Class Charter, which can be seen in their classroom. Currently, they are joining a 'Linking Schools' scheme which will help them understand how other children in our country are educated.
